Symptoms of Juvenile Diabetes in Children

Summary: A breakdown of Juvenile diabetes and its symptoms in children.

The symptoms of juvenile diabetes are pretty much the same as the symptoms of adult onset diabetes. Juvenile diabetes is a serious health problem for children though and should not be ignored. Also, while the symptoms of juvenile diabetes- also known as Type 1 diabetes, may be the same or similar as Type 2 Diabetes, the reason for the disease, and the way to treat it is extremely different.

Juvenile Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder. It also can be hereditary. Most studies show that a virus or some other trigger will cause the child’s body to attack cells in the pancreas. These cells are then destroyed and insulin is no longer produced.

Insulin is important to the body because it gives the body the fuel it needs to survive. Insulin moves glucose from a person’s blood to a person’s cells. Basically when insulin is not produced, the body starves.

The symptoms of juvenile diabetes include increased urination, thirst, hunger, and weight loss. You might even notice bedwetting, confusion, flu like symptoms, grouchiness, and a fruity breath odor.

The increased urination is because the glucose can not get to the bodies cells, so the glucose, stays in the blood, raising the blood sugar. This causes the kidneys to work over time to try and get rid of the extra sugar. This causes excess urine production. This is why you also might see bedwetting.

Another side effect of increased urination is increased thirst. Often parents might think that your child is urinating more because they are drinking more, but the truth is that it is the opposite, your child is drinking more because they are urinating more.

Another symptom of juvenile diabetes is a complaint of being hungry. This is not difficult to reason with, as the child’s body is not being fed since the body’s cells are not receiving glucose.

In Type 1 Diabetes, weight loss is very common because again, the body is starving. The glucose is not getting to the body’s cells and so therefore the body is starving.

For these reasons it is very important to get juvenile diabetes treated as quickly as possible. Without treatment diabetic shock and even death can occur because the body is essentially starving.

There is not a cure for juvenile diabetes, but there are medications that can help with lowering blood sugar. Most individuals with juvenile diabetes have to take insulin shots. However, a good diet and exercise can help tremendously with diabetes. There also many products out there that are known to help with lowering blood sugar. One such product is called Syntra 5. Syntra 5 lowers blood sugar by up to 107 points and has never not worked. Everyone who uses it has some results.
